JAZZ | LATIN

Began playing on the London jazz scene of the 1980s/90s, a few years in Wales and based in Devon since 2001. Now gigging regularly across the Southwest and the rest of the UK with the Pete Canter Quartet, Pete Canter's OCTOBER QUINTET or in duo or trio line-ups. I perform in jazz venues, pubs, festivals, arts centres, restaurants, wine bars and at private functions. I have played at numerous major festivals including Teignmouth, Cheltenham and Bude jazz festivals, Exeter Vibraphonic, Summer & Autumn Festivals and North Devon Festival. My quartet supported Polar Bear in the 2006 Vibraphonic Festival and the Kyle Eastwood Band in the 2007 Exeter Summer Festival. In 2005 I was awarded a grant by Artsmatrix to study jazz composition with internationally renowned saxophonist/composer Iain Ballamy and have played with him on several occasions most recently in the 2007 Teignmouth Jazz Festival and the 2007 North Devon Festival. I am presently writing music for my Pete Canter's OCTOBER QUINTET and this band has a few gigs coming up. All my gigs are listed on my website www.petecanter.com
